Leadership Lessons with TED Talks
Thursday, May 4th, 2017

Speaker: Jay Walker, Manager Leadership Development at GM Financial

Program Summary:

Leadership Lessons uses a unique classroom instructional method in which TED Talks, podcasts and other media sources are used to present the ideas of successful leaders. The sessions are conducted so participants have the opportunity to learn leadership lessons from a noted leader. In addition, participants are provided the opportunity to discuss the topics in small and large group discussions. This instructional method enables new ideas from successful leaders to be infused with ideas of leaders in the session. The result is a fertile and powerful learning environment.

At the May ATD meeting, Benjamin Zander’s TED Talk titled “The Transformative Power of Classical Music” will be the focus of the Leadership Lessons Workshop. Benjamin Zander is successful musician and leader. He founded the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra in 1979 and has conducted it since its inception. He also founded the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra where he works with promising high school and college musicians. In addition, to his successful musical career, Zander is a world renowned speaker on the topic of leadership. In his talks, he applies his love for music, and knowledge of leadership, to inspire leaders across various industries.
